Day 1 Vancouver to Jasper (Rail) This evening check-in at Pacific Central Station and board VIA Rail’s ‘Canadian’ for the famous train journey to the majestic Canadian Rockies. Travel back in time to the days of classic rail travel. The original stainless steel ‘streamliner’ railcars (made famous by the ‘Canadian’ in the 1950s) are totally refurbished with air conditioning, a café car, lounge car, and access to the dome car. Exclusive to Sleeper Touring Class: In the evening attendants transform your quarters into cozy bunks or a bedroom. Visit the Dome Car where you will experience the true essence of travelling by train as a panoramic scene sweeps by. In Sleeper Touring Class some of the amenities include thick towels, plump pillows, cozy down duvets and a shower kit.

Day 2 Arrive Jasper (Rail) This morning, the ‘Canadian’ begins its passage into the Canadian Rockies. Enjoy views of snow-capped peaks, Pyramid Falls and the expansive glaciers of the Albreda Icefields. Pass by Mount Robson, which at 3954 metres is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Arrive in Jasper shortly after noon and transfer to your hotel. The balance of the afternoon is yours to explore this unique mountain community. (breakfast & lunch is included today)

Day 3 Jasper - Evening wildlife tour Today is free to explore Jasper before departing this evening to experience the environs of Jasper, and for some amazing close-up photo opportunities of wildlife.

Day 4 Jasper to Banff (Coach) Your sightseeing tour today will encompass the ultimate glacier exploration as you travel along the spectacular Icefields Parkway From walking on ancient ice at the Glacier Adventure (included), to standing on a glass platform almost one thousand feet in the air at the Glacier Skywalk (included), today’s experiences will leave you with a special appreciation for this treasured region of the Rockies. (picnic lunch included today)

Day 5 Morning sightseeing tour of Banff with Gondola This morning, tour the town of Banff and its environs. Among the highlights are visits to the Hoodoos, Bow Valley Viewpoint, Surprise Corner, Bow Falls, Lake Minnewanka and the Banff Gondola for a breathtaking ascent to the pinnacle of Sulphur Mountain Return to downtown Banff at your leisure. (transfer not included)

Day 6 Banff to Kamloops (Coach) Today your coach takes you on the famed Trans-Canada Highway following a route charted by the railroad engineers and fur traders of the mid 1800s. Leaving Banff National Park, travel to Yoho National Park where you cross the continental divide. Continue on through Glacier National Park and Rogers Pass with spectacular mountain vistas in every direction. Travel through the Monashee Mountain Range and pass Shuswap Lake to Sicamous - the “Houseboat Capital of Canada”. Tonight’s destination at the historic, train-era, Plaza Hotel, in downtown Kamloops.(lunch is included today)

Day 7 Kamloops to Vancouver (Coach) The landscape changes dramatically as we climb from the Canadian desert area of Kamloops into the sub alpine region of Coquihalla Pass and the imposing Cascade Mountains. After the pass descend quickly into the Fraser River Valley. En-route stop in Hope for a short rest and views of the spectacular coastal mountains around us. The last leg of the journey takes you through the lush farming region of the Fraser Valley to arrive in the Pacific port city of Vancouver early afternoon. (breakfast is included today)

Departing Vancouver (Reverse)

Day 1 Vancouver to Kamloops (Coach) Your journey through Western Canada begins with an early-afternoon departure from downtown Vancouver. Travel through the lush Fraser Delta Region and the towering peaks of the Coastal Mountains, before entering the Fraser River Canyon. Follow the Fraser River until the town of Hope for a short rest and to view the spectacular coastal mountains around us. From Hope continue upwards to the sub alpine region via the Coquihalla Highway. Along this route watch the landscape change dramatically as you gain altitude. Travel from lush coastal forest, to sub alpine, to Canadian desert en-route to your destination at the historic, train-era, Plaza Hotel, in downtown Kamloops.

Day 2 Kamloops to Banff (Coach) Continue your journey from Kamloops. Witness the landscape change from wide open skies to towering rugged peaks as you ascend into the Rocky Mountains. Stop for lunch in the alpine town of Revelstoke before continuing through the untouched wilderness of Roger’s Pass. Stand on the shores of Lake Louise surrounding by towering mountains, and take a quick stroll around the lake. If travelling to Banff, continue along the Bow Valley Parkway through the heart of Banff National Park. Your tour concludes upon arrival into Banff (breakfast & lunch is included today)
