Day 4 Campbell River to Knight Inlet Lodge | Floatplane Flight | Grizzly Bear Viewing An early departure by floatplane this morning to Knight Inlet, a remote fjord and natural habitat of the grizzly bear feeding on sedge grasses during the spring and summer and in the fall on the salmon in the local river. After a short safety briefing join your guide in search of the bears that frequent the area.
Day 5 Knight Inlet Lodge | Freedom of Choice 1 of 4 Excursions Today you can personalize your day by choosing one of these excursions Option 1. Extra Grizzly Bear Viewing Glendale Cove in Knight Inlet is home to one of the largest concentrations of grizzly (brown) bears in British Columbia, Canada. Option 2. Interpretive Rainforest Walk The Kwalate valley is a 20-minute boat ride from the lodge. This is one of the few pristine watersheds left in this area. Over the past few years, Knight Inlet Lodge has been building a trail alongside the beautiful Kwalate River. Option 3. Wildlife tracking to make plaster casts of animal prints Head into bear habitat for a slow drive down the old forestry roads looking for bear signs like day beds, bear trails, “rub” trees and tracks. If we find bear tracks or any other animal tracks, we can make a plaster cast of the print to take home. Option 4. Walk the Clouds Hike This tour is a bit different from the others as you will walk along a raised wooden boardwalk to a scenic lookout. With spectacular, panoramic views of Glendale Cove and Knight Inlet the lookout provides an eagle eye view of the local area.
Day 6 Knight Inlet Lodge to Vancouver | Grizzly Bear Viewing | Flight Early morning visit to the bear viewing platforms in search of wildlife before returning to Campbell River by floatplane. On arrival, transfer (included) to the local airport for your re-turn flight to Vancouver.
Day 7 Vancouver to Jasper | VIA Rail This afternoon, board VIA Rail’s ‘Canadian’ train for the famous rail journey to the majestic Canadian Rockies. Pass through the rich fields of the Fraser Valley and the towering peaks of the Coastal Mountains before entering the Fraser Canyon. Follow the Thompson River through spectacular landscapes as you enjoy dinner (included), then retreat to your private quarters that have been converted into a bedroom.

Day 4 Campbell River to Knight Inlet Lodge | Floatplane Flight | Grizzly Bear Viewing Depart Campbell River this morning by floatplane for a spectacular flight into Knight Inlet, a remote fjord in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest. On arrival at the floating wilderness lodge, enjoy a welcome orientation and safety briefing before joining your guide for your first grizzly bear viewing experience. Depending on the season, viewing may take place by boat along the estuary or from purpose-built viewing platforms during the salmon run. Surrounded by ancient rainforest, snow-capped peaks and the sheltered waters of Glendale Cove, this is one of British Columbia’s most remarkable wildlife settings. (Lunch & dinner included today)
Day 5 Knight Inlet Lodge | Freedom of Choice 1 of 4 Excursions Today you can personalize your day by choosing one of these excursions. Option 1. Extra Grizzly Bear Viewing Glendale Cove in Knight Inlet is home to one of the largest concentrations of grizzly (brown) bears in British Columbia, Canada. Option 2. Interpretive Rainforest Walk The Kwalate valley is a 20-minute boat ride from the lodge. This is one of the few pristine watersheds left in this area. Over the past few years, Knight Inlet Lodge has been building a trail alongside the beautiful Kwalate River. Option 3. Wildlife tracking to make plaster casts of animal prints Head into bear habitat for a slow drive down the old forestry roads looking for bear signs like day beds, bear trails, “rub” trees and tracks. If we find bear tracks or any other animal tracks, we can make a plaster cast of the print to take home. Option 4. Walk the Clouds Hike This tour is a bit different from the others as you will walk along a raised wooden boardwalk to a scenic lookout. With spectacular, panoramic views of Glendale Cove and Knight Inlet the lookout provides an eagle eye view of the local area.
Day 6 Knight Inlet Lodge to Vancouver | Grizzly Bear Viewing | Flight Rise early for one final wildlife experience, with another opportunity to search for grizzly bears and other coastal wildlife before leaving the lodge. After breakfast, return by floatplane to Campbell River, taking in the dramatic fjords, forested islands and mountain scenery from above. Day 7 Vancouver to Jasper | VIA Rail This afternoon, board VIA Rail’s legendary Canadian for your overnight journey from Vancouver to the majestic Canadian Rockies. Settle into the nostalgia of classic rail travel aboard restored stainless-steel railcars, complete with a dining car, lounge car and panoramic dome car. Later this afternoon, board your flight to Campbell River on Vancouver Island, known as the gateway to British Columbia’s coastal wilderness. Day 10 Campbell River to Knight Inlet Lodge | Floatplane Flight | Grizzly Bear Viewing Depart Campbell River this morning by floatplane for a spectacular flight into Knight Inlet, a remote fjord in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest. On arrival at the floating wilderness lodge, enjoy a welcome orientation and safety briefing before joining your guide for your first grizzly bear viewing experience. Depending on the season, viewing may take place by boat along the estuary or from purpose-built viewing platforms during the salmon run. Surrounded by ancient rainforest, snow-capped peaks and the sheltered waters of Glendale Cove, this is one of British Columbia’s most remarkable wildlife settings. (Lunch & dinner included today)
Day 11 Knight Inlet Lodge | Freedom of Choice 1 of 4 Excursions Today you can personalize your day by choosing one of these excursions. Option 1. Extra Grizzly Bear Viewing Glendale Cove in Knight Inlet is home to one of the largest concentrations of grizzly (brown) bears in British Columbia, Canada. Option 2. Interpretive Rainforest Walk The Kwalate valley is a 20-minute boat ride from the lodge. This is one of the few pristine watersheds left in this area. Over the past few years, Knight Inlet Lodge has been building a trail alongside the beautiful Kwalate River. Option 3. Wildlife tracking to make plaster casts of animal prints Head into bear habitat for a slow drive down the old forestry roads looking for bear signs like day beds, bear trails, “rub” trees and tracks. If we find bear tracks or any other animal tracks, we can make a plaster cast of the print to take home. Option 4. Walk the Clouds Hike This tour is a bit different from the others as you will walk along a raised wooden boardwalk to a scenic lookout. With spectacular, panoramic views of Glendale Cove and Knight Inlet the lookout provides an eagle eye view of the local area.
Day 12 Knight Inlet Lodge to Vancouver | Grizzly Bear Viewing | Flight Rise early for one final wildlife experience, with another opportunity to search for grizzly bears and other coastal wildlife before leaving the lodge. After breakfast, return by floatplane to Campbell River, taking in the dramatic fjords, forested islands and mountain scenery from above. On arrival, transfer to Campbell River Airport for your flight back to Vancouver, bringing your Great Bear Rainforest adventure to a memorable close. (Breakfast included today)
Day 13 Vancouver | Departure Your incredible Canadian Rockies adventure comes to an end today as we transfer you to the airport to begin the journey home.
